The German Development Service (DED) has been working in Uganda since the beginning of the 70ies in order to contribute to sustainable development and to achieve improved living conditions for the people.

Currently more than 30 development workers, 15 volunteers and another 30 national experts commit themselves in our programmes.

The work of the German Development Service in Uganda is an integral part of the development commitment of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uganda. The areas of intervention are agreed upon within bilateral discussions between Uganda and Germany. On the basis of a mutual dialogue and an intensive technical exchange, DED is working together with its partner organisations and the local population towards the implementation of development programmes in three main sectors:

• Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency
• Urban Water Supply and Sanitation
• Financial Sector Development.

In addition DED also implements/supports:

• Civil Peace Service Programme (CPS)
• Economic and Employment Promotion
  • Vocational training
  • Public Private Partnership (PPP)
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
• IDP/Refugee Programme
• HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming
• The volunteer support programme weltwärts.

At the same time DED Uganda is working closely together with the other German governmental organisations for development as well as with many national and international partners and the civil society.
